Psychedelics can give rise to experiences far beyond the range of the ordinary human imagination. Many of these experiences defeat our attempts to conceptualise them. At the same time, users sometimes find themselves speaking of an all-encompassing, more-than-human love. One way we might try to approach this extraordinary love is to situate it in terms of the Advaita Vedanta concept of ‘non-duality’, a concept used in many circles to explicate the nature of Awakening. In this introductory workshop, I will be drawing on my own and other’s experiences to consider the power of psychedelics to open the heart, and to enter into the paradoxical landscape of non-dual love. You will also be invited to join in some guided exercises intended to give a taste of the non-dual.
