Too many of us today are terrified of taking risks, having been indoctrinated by our culture to desire as much security as possible.
Risk, philosophers say, is an antidote to trauma. For if trauma captures the future in such a way that our present becomes modelled on past experiences, a line of risk opens the possibility of the new, the unknown.
To heal, we actually need to take risks.
But to do so intelligently and beautifully, we need not only support from others we trust, but also a sustained practice of self-connection, internal listening, what the polyvagal people call interoception and neuroception.
Alessandra Massi and Peter Banki invite you on a journey of erotic mindfulness to help you find the courage and energy to take the risks that are uniquely yours.
Dance, costume, role play, embodiment, sensuality, breath and time are some of the tools we use.
Sometimes it is not so much going towards an other that is truly risky, but allowing ourselves to feel ourselves and be seen, without stopping at the taboos imposed about how we think we’re supposed to be or act.
How can I not let fear of rejection rule me?
How can I find the courage to fall? And then get up again?
How can I cultivate myself for who I might be rather than who I am?
Feeling alive is not a given, it is a task.
