Are you one of those people who spends most of their time in their heads?
I most certainly am.
But over many years I’ve learned that if I connect daily with my body and my breath, my mind becomes cooler and stronger - and I make more skillful decisions in life.
Yoga is firstly not for the body, but for the chitta: the consciousness, mind, awareness and moral uprightness that it brings. Body strength and flexibility are just a by-product.
For the first time I’ve decided to offer an introductory yoga course for the curious and the brave, called “Yoga for Erotic Life”.
One of my teachers, Debbie Belnick, has given me permission to teach in her studio in Bondi Junction.
Yoga is an energetic practice and not a dogma.
I’ve been practicing yoga for over 20 years.
I could not have written a Ph.D without it, nor could I have hosted so many wild sexuality festivals.
Before a large festival I almost always do a 5 day yoga intensive.
Yogic practice is, if you like, my secret weapon. It gives me the resources to cope with the inevitable turbulence that festivals create.
It’s also one of the reasons I feel so close to the work of Joseph Kramer, who has developed a Yoga of Sex.
Another mentor, Felix Ruckert, who has been doing the work much longer than I, also practices yoga every day.
In Love and Lust,
